I found a few Trabants on vacation the last few days. Enjoy them!

I know that if I were alive during the era when these first rolled off of the lines, I probably would have much rather preferred any American car at all of the same value. But looking at them now, it's almost physically impossible not to visualize what one of these things would look like if someone tried to restomod and tastefully customize the crap out of one.

Interesting how three out of these four (#1, #2, #4) seem to have the modern 4-stroke VW engine. This indicates they're post-communist cars from the last two of the 35 production years (1990-1991).

I'm half Hungarian and my grandparents might take me over there someday. How is it?

Oh, if you're still there, take the red line of the subway in to town, and make your way to the Gundel Hotel if you haven't already. Then enjoy some of the best tasting cake in the world!

It is wonderful. It's a very beautiful place, with powerful traces of WWII still abundant. It makes it a very special place.

Neat! I hope I do get a chance to go. Did you stay mostly around Budapest, or did you spend any time in more rural areas too?
Also, just because I don't know a single word in Hungarian, I'm curious. Would English or German be more useful? I don't know why I feel like more people could understand German, but I do. :P

You definitely should! I was in Budapest the whole time, save the train trip from Vienna, so I only know the city.
English is more useful. I didn't meet one person the entire week who didn't speak English fluently (or close to it).
